Respond Quickly and Effectively When Faced with an Active Shooter or Violence at Your Meeting, Conference or Event

The reality for meeting planners is despite all the crisis planning our companies may do, rarely does it include meeting and event scenarios.

This speaker will provide information on what should you do, as the planner.

  1. During the planning process

  2. On site if a situation occurs

  3. After the incident.

Core Competency - Logistics

Speaker: Adam Crowe, VCU, Director of Emergency Preparedness

Adam Crowe holds a master’s degree in public administration, with a focus in emergency management, from Jacksonville State University and has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Clemson University. He became VCU's director of emergency preparedness in March of 2012. He is the author of three books.

After the session, attendees will:

  • Have a better overall understanding of what to do if your meeting/conference/event becomes the scene of an active shooter, or violent incident.

  • Have steps to take during and after the incident.

  • Have some tips/tools to incorporate into the planning process to help better manage an incident, should it occur.

*Please Note, you must be in your seat by 3:15 PM to receive contact hours
