At every step of the event organization process, there are more opportunities than ever for meeting professionals to promote diversity. Diversity is about far more than race and ethnicity. A diverse group of individuals brings different experiences that require us to understand how to make every participant feel valued. Learning how to create inclusive event spaces not only improves employee productivity and morale but can increase your bottom line – higher attendance. Diversity is your greatest asset! Representation of every age, physical ability, gender, education and more are critical to the success of your event. This session will teach you how to master inclusive communication and marketing strategies, celebrate your own differences and represent the diverse people that you serve.

Planner Breakout #6A - Food for Thought: Enhancing attendee experience through meals * Panel

Meeting planners always want to know how I can help my attendees gain and retain the most from their meeting experience. One might answer that question by looking into conditional factors that may influence an attendee leading up to a meeting as well as during. One may be surprised to know that MEALS play a large role in the attendee’s experience. The center of all brain focus at meetings comes down to MEALS and what attendees consuming and the timing of those meals.

Supplier Breakout Session #6B - Exploring eVA's NEW Features & Website * Kim Brewer, eVA Outreach & Marketing Manager

This interactive session will provide a real time walk thru of the new eVA website, including the re-designed Virginia Business Opportunities page, featuring a new private sector connection platform called the VIBE, Virginia Information Business Exchange. We'll also explore other valuable features publicly accessible like the Public Reports, which allow a business to explore & identify buyers who are buying what you sell, determine prices being paid for goods/services you provide, determine who’s getting business (is it you or your competition) and more!

2:45 PM - 3:45 PM                 Successful Meetings Don't Just Happen by Accident, They Happen by Design *Ann Buhl, CMP, CMM

Successful meetings don't just happen; they occur as a result of careful planning and good leadership. We will start with a high-level overview of the meetings and event industry to share the type of skills, competencies, and expertise planners use to help organizations host successful meetings and events. Then we will discuss how a strategic meetings management process with a focus on the participant experience can help take your meetings to the next level, as well as the type of development opportunities and industry certifications available to continue to grow your skills and provide additional value to your organization.
